How to Celebrate Valentine’s Day if you’re Single
Single. It’s not a bad word and there is nothing wrong with being single. In fact, over 50.2% of Americans are single, so while it may seem like everyone you know is in a relationship, in truth you are the one who is in the majority. We know it can feel lonely at times, especially on Valentine’s Day, so we have composed a list of just how to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the person you love the most…yourself!.
- Give yourself the
dream date. No one knows you better than you know yourself, so why not give
yourself the date you have always wanted. If you have a favorite restaurant
then dine there. However, if you are worried about sitting alone then order
take-out and eat at home. You can light candles and watch your favorite movie
of all time. Don’t forget to indulge in your favorite dessert and eat all of it
on your own. There is no one to share with so you get to eat
the cherry on your
sundae…no arguments or tossing of a coin.
- Release
all your tensions and relax with a long hot bubble bath complete with salts,
candles and all the
bubbles
your tub can handle. Why should you take a long bubble bath on Valentine’s Day
when you’re single? The answer is simple, because the average tub doesn’t have
space for two people.
- Feel
sexy again! Lingerie isn’t just for showing off to your significant other; it’s
for feeling sexy. Whether you feel more comfortable in a
sexy teddy
or other revealing piece of sexy
lingerie
or in a set of comfy pajamas, the only thing
that matters is that you feel good about yourself.
- Go
shopping and treat yourself. The best part about shopping for yourself is that
there are no bad memories attached to whatever you buy. If a significant other
buys your something, such as jewelry, you are
probably not going to wear it if
you ever split up. That is a waste of a beautiful sapphire necklace if there
ever was one. However, if you buy a Pandora charm for yourself, then it will
always bring happy memories and no one can take that away from you.
5. Say I love you…to yourself. Loving who you are is the first step in finding someone to love you back. Whether you want to think it in your head, write it down, sing it, or scream it out loud the most important thing is to believe it. Take a few minutes to listen to the words of Hailey Steinfeld’s song, “Love Yourself”. You will soon see that when you love yourself you don’t need anybody else…not even on Valentine’s Day.
Don’t mope on Valentine’s Day…celebrate it and be happy that you get to spend it with the one person in the world who loves you more than any other human could, yourself! Singles Awareness Day isn’t something to be ashamed of, it’s something to be proud of!
